Columbus PTA Members Refuse to Endorse Levy

COLUMBUS (Lu Ann Stoia/Ken Hines) -- A spokesperson said Mayor Michael Coleman was "disappointed" when a group of PTA leaders refused to endorse a levy.

Mayor Coleman (D) has been pushing Issues 50 and 51 since September, claiming the levy is necessary to fund necessary improvements to the Columbus City Schools District.

Despite the mayor's support, members of the Columbus Council of Parent Teacher Associations voted unanimously against endorsing the issues during a Tuesday meeting at St. Stephen's Community House.

Mayor Coleman's spokesperson Dan Williams told ABC 6/FOX 28 he believes some members of the council declined to attend the meeting despite receiving invitations, and did not cast a vote on the potential endorsement.
