Dozens of Dogs, Horses Seized from Licking County Property
ST.LOUISVILLE (Adam Aaro/Kate Liebers) -- Dozens of dogs and a few horses were seized from a Licking County home, which Humane Society agents suspected was a breeding operation.
The home had been on the Licking County Humane Society's radar for about a month, following a complaint about the living conditions of the dogs seen outside the home. These animals were apparently kept in small cages with little to no food.
The search warrant revealed more problems inside the property on Stradley Road near St. Louisville.
Investigators had expected to find about 20 animals instead the home instead discovered 43 dogs. Three horses were also found, all of which appeared to be malnourished.
No charges have been filed yet against the homeowner.
Veterinarians will evaluate, spay or neuter, and administer vaccinations to every animal. The animals which Humane Society authorities expect are all pure-breds are likely to be available for adoption within two to three weeks.
The Licking County Humane Society was already at capacity before the dogs arrived, so it is also asking the public for donations like dog or puppy food, puppy pads and laundry detergent. Monetary donations are also welcome.
