Suspect Arrested in Connection to Fairfield Co. Mother's Death
FAIRFIELD COUNTY (Ken Hines) -- Investigators have arrested a man in connection with the death of a mother of five who was believed to be his on-again, off-again girlfriend.
Scott Farringer was arrested Thursday afternoon, a day after Denise Haught was found dead inside her Shell Beach Road home following a string of 911 calls made from the residence, during which witnesses reported a fight between Farringer and Haught.
"Her ol' man was there at 3 o'clock this morning -- her ex ol' man -- and they got into a fight," a caller told a dispatcher. "I seen blood on her hands."
Investigators have ruled Haught's death a homicide, but have not yet announced the charges faced by Farringer, who is scheduled to be arraigned Friday afternoon.
Haught, 34, moved to the Shell Road home in September, according to her mother, Donna. The victim shared the residence with her brother and two of her five children.
At least two calls were made to 911 from the couple on prior occasions. During an August call, Farringer told a dispatcher he feared for the safety of the two children he shared with Haught.
In September, Haught called 911 to report that Farringer had struck her with his car. She claimed to have taken out a restraining order against Farringer before that incident occurred.
