Elections Worker Arrested for Child Pornography
COLUMBUS (Adam Aaro) -- A Franklin County Board of Elections worker is arrested for child pornography. Investigators with the Franklin County Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force say 68-year-old William Martin had been on their radar for more than a year for suspected sharing and downloading of child pornography.
Sheriff Zach Scott says recently, Martin's alleged downloads reached a point where detectives were able to serve a search warrant at his Groveport home. Investigators say they discovered hundreds of suspected child pornography files on Martin's computer. Later during questioning, investigators say Martin admitted to using file sharing programs to seek out child pornography and that he'd been doing it for years.
Martin was then arrested on October 15th and taken to the Franklin County Jail. He's expected to be arraigned on the 16th where his bond will be set.
We stopped by Martin's home for comment, but the person who answered the door declined.
The Franklin County Board of Elections says Martin had worked seasonally for them for about 20 years and never had any kind of disciplinary problems. He worked primarily at of their warehouse on Alum Creek Drive, prepping machines for polling.
