Jogger Killed Right as She Fulfilled Her Dream
BLENDON TOWNSHIP (Ben Garbarek) -- Friends of a murdered jogger said she was killed right as she was fulfilling her life's dream.
Jane Juergens was stabbed to death while going for a run on a trail in Ridgewood Park in Blendon Township Sunday evening.
Friends of hers said she was an optimistic and positive person with a wide range of interests from ballroom dancing to pilates.
"I would call her a light and a delight," said friend Jan Allen.
Allen worked with Juergens in a group called "Women on Fire". The organization is designed for women to help other women fulfill their dreams.
Apparently that's exactly what Juergens was doing. She just started her own human resources consulting firm this spring.
"She was living her dream," Allen said. "She had the courage and the tenacity and the know-how and the brilliance and smarts to make it happen."
The suspect in her killing is 16 year-old Jordan Stewart. He has a long history of violent outbreaks and mental illness. He was living in a nearby group home.
"It's a really horrific end to her life," she said. "I just saw her on Friday and she was as vivacious and vibrant as always."
This year was supposed to be a big one for Juergens. Her friends are trying to figure out how a bright woman could be the victim of such a senseless attack.
"It's really hard for all of us to imagine that she's here one minute and gone the next because of a random act of violence," Allen said.
Allen and other women with Women on Fire are planning a tribute to Juergens to keep her legacy going.
