Dublin Moving Forward with Big Development
DUBLIN (Ben Garbarek) -- Plans are moving forward for a bold development city leaders said could "transform" Dublin.
The $300 million privately funded development is planned for the area off Riverside Drive between Bridge Street and Dale Drive. Right now there's a shopping plaza there that's partially empty.
The new development would add a hotel, convention center, fitness center, upscale grocery store, condos, apartments, restaurants and stores.
"Really the only missing dimension they have here in Dublin is the urban, walkable community like we're trying to create here," said developer Nelson Yoder.
The City of Dublin will chip in roughly $40 million. Part of that money will go toward shifting Riverside over to create a park and walking trail along the Scioto River.
"If we get it right, it'll be a very special place," said Terry Foegler, one of the city employees working on the project.
Developers said Cameron Mitchell has already agreed to open two restaurants in the new development.
Construction is scheduled to start in 2014 with some phases of the project opening in 2015.
The final plans are still being fine tuned. If you'd like to give your input, you can submit it here:
