Vigil Held After Deadly Arson

WEST COLUMBUS (Ben Garbarek) -- A family is still looking for justice on the third anniversary of a deadly arson in Franklinton.

Deanna Perry, 61, Charles Climer, 17 and 7-month old Brianna Smith all died in the fire on Yale Avenue in 2010.

"I tried to (go inside)," said Perry's son Darrell Parfitt.  "My brother-in-law tackled me and told me, 'look bro, they're gone. Can't do nothing.' I just laid in the street and cried for a minute.  It hurt."

Parfitt's family is holding a vigil with Columbus Police and firefighters in the hopes of generating new leads.  Parfitt is looking for answers for his family.

"(My children) would like to know where's Mama, where's Charlie," he said.  "They're God's angels now.  That's all I can tell them.  He needed some angels and took three generations at one time. I'd like to find some closure to it, but I'm not sure there's going to be closure."

The vigil will be held at 3pm at the site where the house used to stand at 128 N. Yale Avenue in Franklinton.
