Genoa Twp. Residents Protest Planned CVS
GENOA TOWNSHIP (Jen French/Ken Hines) -- Fears of increased traffic and prescription drug-related crime have led several residents to protest the proposed construction of a CVS.
Developers hope to build the store on a 10 acre lot at the corner of State Route 3 and Big Walnut Road that is currently zoned as rural residential.
Critics believe there are currently a sufficient number of pharmacies in the area, and fear the store would lead to an increase in traffic and prescription drug abuse.
"A lot of us enjoy CVS, we just don't want one so close to us," Genoa Twp. resident Jan Meyer said. "We have so many pharmacies within a short distance."
Critics have posted signs near the property reading, "Just Say No to CVS." However, many area residents support the proposed addition of the store to their neighborhood.
"It could be convenient, particularly if any of the area kids were sick and needed some kind of medication at all hours of the morning," Matt Drayer said.
Township trustees will vote on the plan during a meeting at the Genoa Township Hall on September 11 at 6 p.m. The public is welcome to attend the meeting.
