Bizarre 911 Call in Case of Missing Fisherman
COLUMBUS (Tara Morgan) -- A dispatcher questions the friend of a missing fisherman why it took him so long to call 911 after he fell from a boat.
The man hasn't been seen since early Saturday morning.
"911 um yeah, I think me and my friend we were fishing the boat tipped over I think he drowned," said the man's friend to a 911 dispatcher.
A search Monday at a pond behind a quarry in south Columbus was called off and will resume Tuesday.
The nearly 2 1/2 minute call gleaned few answers. The man told the dispatcher he walked two hours to get to a convenience store.
"Sir why did it take you two hours to get across the street
why did you wait so long to call," asked the dispatcher.
The man told her he had to walk through trails.
A Columbus police homicide detective is handling the case.
