Bright Billboard Drawing Criticism in North Columbus
COLUMBUS (Ken Hines) -- Drivers are complaining that the brightness of a new billboard is proving to be a distraction.
The Atlas Butler LED advertisement along I-71 near Morse Road was approved by the Columbus Graphics Commission over objections from civic groups and the city's building and zoning department.
However, the permit awarded to the billboard's operators contained a clause that required that automatic dimming capabilities be included in case the sign elicited community complaints.
Now that those complaints have been received, a representative from the company responsible for the billboard says an employee will personally inspect the sign's brightness to determine if dimming is necessary.
