Cycling Community Relieved After Hearing Police Have Hit and Run Suspect
DELAWARE COUNTY (Tara Morgan) -- The biking community is relieved to hear a suspect has been found and the car authorities say they believe was in a deadly hit and run.
We now know the suspect is a 36 year old woman with a history of traffic violations in Delaware county.
ABC6/FOX28 is not naming the woman because she has not been charged.
Investigators announced they had a suspect during a news conference Friday.
"I guess what is most surprising to all of us is that it happened this quick that it's been we've got a suspect within a week," said Mimi Webb with Trek Bicycle Store in Upper Arlington.
Investigators have been pouring over the suspected car, a grey Chrysler Sebring with front end damage.
A search warrant states the suspect first told her father she hit a deer, but after a Delaware County Sergeant looked at the damage, she admitted she hit a person.
The spot on Miller Paul Road where Robert Lennon's body was found is now marked with a ghost bike.
Webb hopes Lennon's family can now find some peace.
"Obviously I don't know what kind of relief there could be it's a terrible situation in all ways but hopefully there will be questions answered and hopefully the justice system works out," said Webb.
Ohio State Highway Patrol is working closely with the Delaware prosecutors office.
We're told the case will likely go to a grand jury for an indictment.
