ABC 6 INVESTIGATES: Former Columbus Urban League Boss Cuts Deal With Feds
COLUMBUS (Tom Sussi) -- We're updating a scandal at the Columbus Urban League ABC 6 Investigators first broke two years ago.
Former Urban League executive Ovell Harrison agreed to a plea deal today in federal court. Harrison pleaded guilty to one count of bank fraud, and one count of aggravated theft. The 55-year-old is free on bond, and will be sentenced within the next two months.
Federal agents say Harrison stole $85,000 from the agency between 2004 and 2010. According to agents, Harrison stole the identities of four people including two former Urban League clients. Harrison used that information to create bogus accounts and invoices with the Urban League. Harrison set up three bank accounts to manage the money.
Harrison worked at the Urban League from 1997 to 2011.
