Hilliard Police Offer Reward for Hit-and-Run Info
HILLIARD (Ken Hines, Maria Durant) -- Investigators hope the promise of cash will convince someone to provide helpful information about an unsolved hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a bicyclist.
Hilliard police believe a gray car struck Brad Young while he was biking on Dublin Road, south of Hayden Run Road, in Norwich Township on September 1.
Young survived the crash, but he spent several days at Riverside Methodist Hospital and will require physical therapy to recover from his injuries.
Hilliard police announced Wednesday that they are offering up to $1000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the driver responsible for the crash.
Friends hope the person who struck Young will come forward.
Wednesday night they held a benefit in his honor to raise much needed funds to pay for Young's hospital expenses.
Young's Brother-In-Law, Chris Merklin wants the driver to take responsibility for what happened. He says, " It was an accident up until the driver decided to leave. And if it was an accident, then if anyone is going to forgive anyone, It's Brad Young and his family,"
Police say the vehicle that struck Young might have sustained damage to its windshield and right front-end.
Anyone with information about the crash is encouraged to contact the Hilliard Division of Police at 614-876-2429.
