Bicyclist Dies After Being Struck by Car near Marysville
MARYSVILLE (Ken Hines) -- A bicyclist has died after being struck by a car while riding on a rural road, despite the efforts of the driver to save her life.
Marsha Shaw was riding on County Home Road near Marysville when she was hit from behind by a Mercury Sable at approximately 11:45 a.m. on Thursday.
The impact sent Shaw flying from her bicycle into the car's windshield, then to the ground.
The Sable's driver performed CPR on Shaw immediately after the accident, but was unable to save the woman's life, according to state troopers.
Shaw was wearing her helmet when she was struck. She died at Union Memorial Hospital in Marysville.
Troopers are investigating the accident, and have not yet determined if charges will be filed against the driver.
