Police: 911 Calls Intercepted in Delaware County
DELAWARE COUNTY (Ken Hines) -- Investigators believe several callers who thought they were speaking with 911 dispatchers were actually talking to another person.
Delaware police are confident that at least one man intercepted calls made to the county's 911 service, claiming to be a dispatcher.
That person or people then called actual Delaware County dispatchers to relay the information.
Dublin police officers eventually learned of the issue, and placed test calls to the county's 911 service.
"When questioned, the call-taker terminated the call, and additional 911 calls went unanswered," Delaware Officer Bruce Pijanowski said.
Police searched the home and business of the owner of ICS Communications, the company that provides phone services for the people whose 911 calls were intercepted, but have not divulged any possible role he may have played in the crimes.
Investigators say they believe they know who is responsible for the intercepted calls, but have not revealed that information publicly.
