SEVERE STORM: Branch Crashes Through Roof, Nearly Misses Girl

COLUMBUS (Chelsea Spears/Kelsey Mallahan) -- A Columbus family was homeless Wednesday night after a storm sent a large tree branch through the roof of their apartment, nearly missing a sleeping two-year old.

The young girl was rattled awake when a branch crashed through the concrete ceiling of her bedroom on Brunson Ave.

"We hear a loud crack and then the whole building shook," said Charles Harris, the girl's grandfather.

The girl was taken to Nationwide Children's Hospital and released with minor injuries.

The damage from the storm made the Harris’ apartment unlivable.

"It's scary, the whole situation, how I'm going to bounce back," said Harris.

With assistance from The Red Cross, The Harris family found a safe place to stay Wednesday night.
