Driver Wanted for Causing Crash that Killed Pregnant Woman in Pike Co.

WAVERLY, Ohio (Carol Luper/Ken Hines) -- State troopers are searching for a driver who fled a crash scene after slamming into a car in Pike County on Monday, killing two people, including a pregnant woman.

Investigators believe the unidentified driver crossed the median on River Road near Meadow Run Road in Pike County, then slammed into the front end of the victims' car.

Tina Oiger, 35, and her 19-year-old niece, Mary Jane Cooper, were pronounced dead at the scene. Oiger was 6 months pregnant at the time of her death.

Police issued an arrest warrant for Paul Riggs Jr. after his sister identified him as the driver of the car that struck Oiger's vehicle. Riggs is believed to have fled the scene of the crash.

Investigators believe Riggs was driving under a suspended license when the crash occurred. Officers have alerted area hospitals to be on alert in case Riggs seeks medical treatment for any possible injuries sustained in the crash.

Riggs is charged with three counts of aggravated vehicular homicide for the deaths of Cooper, Oiger, and her unborn child. He is also charged with aggravated vehicular assault because of broken bones suffered by Oiger's son Tyler Cooper, who was a passenger in his mother's car at the time of the crash.

Anyone with information about Paul Riggs Jr.'s whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Ohio State Highway Patrol at 740-775-7770.
