WEDNESDAY: Heat Experiment #3
HEAT EXPERIMENT (Kellie Hanna) Meteorologist Andrew Buck Michael is outside our ABC 6/FOX 28 studios to conduct a 45 minute heat experiment.
The National Weather Service has put Central Ohio under a heat advisory from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, but as we all know, it was been extremely hot for the last several days as well.
Andrew Buck Michael said he wanted to "try to melt stuff in this heat."
He pulled his truck up to the front of the station and put a thermometer in it. In just a few minutes, the temperature shot up into the mid 90 degree level.
He put a tray on his dash board that had m&m candies, a hershey bar, chapstick, lipstick, hand sanitizer and one of the stations' recording tapes.
In just seconds the tower of hershey bar pieces fell onto each other and was a melted mess by the end of the 45 minutes.
The m&m candies' shells started to "sweat" and when Andrew picked them up, they completely melted in his hands (not just in his mouth)
The lipstick, when touched, also melted in his fingers. The chapstick stayed a little firmer but also melted when he pressed on it.
The results showed that in this heat, everyone should take everything out of their car because it will get ruined.
