WEDNESDAY: Ask the Doc
ASK THE DOC (Kellie Hanna) Dr. Mimi Ghosh, a physician with the American Health Network and OSU's Wexner Medical Center, is in the studio to take viewers health questions.
The first comes from a viewer asking about her daughter and the possible re-occurrence of mono. Her daughter had mono two years ago and now has the same symptoms. The emergency room doctor did many tests and they came up negative. Dr. Ghosh says there are different types of the mono virus and there are many other viruses that produce the same symptoms.
The second question comes from a viewer asking about fish oil pills, which are the Omega 3 pills. This viewer is asking if she should stop taking them because of the possible risk to develop colon cancer. Dr. Ghosh says there is no governing body for alternative medicines. The FDA governs regular medicines very stringently and there can be severe interactions. Always talk to your doctor about all medicines you take. Dr. Ghosh recommends eating fish once or twice a week to get the Omega 3 fatty acids the natural way.
