TUESDAY: Columbus Zoo Babies
COLUMBUS ZOO BABIES (Kellie Hanna) Shawn Brehob with the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium brings in baby quatamunde.
They are similar to Mexican racoons and mainly live in the trees. They can be found in the Southwest portion of the United States and in South and Central America.
These babies are only two months old and are very active as Shawn and Pete found out.
These little ones were born in Texas and are being raised by hand at the Columbus Zoo.
Right now they will be housed in the nursery which is by the education center in the zoo.
Quatamunde eat fruits and vegetables and some insects. Bananas are their favorite food and a mash made up of bananas is what they eat right when they are born. They will then move on to cooked chicken.
The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is having a military event where any current or former military member can get into the zoo for free along with their immediate family. They just need to bring proper ID.
