Truck Fatally Strikes Worker on Madison County Road

MADISON COUNTY (Ken Hines) -- County, state, and federal authorities are investigating a fatal accident in which a utility worker was struck by a flatbed truck on Monday morning.

Nick Yurjevich Jr. was killed when he was backed over by the truck while performing utility line work on Simpson Road near London at 8:48 a.m., according to investigators with the Madison County Sheriff's Office.

Yurjevich, 52, was pinned under the truck; he was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Both Yurjevich and the driver of the truck, Thomas Davis, were working on a power line installation project for Moorhead Brothers Inc. when the accident occurred. Representatives from the company have not publicly commented on the worker's death.

Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) agents are assisting deputies and troopers with the investigation.
