Crews Work to Restore Power to Thousands in Central Ohio

COLUMBUS (Kelsey Mallahan) -- Many central Ohio residents woke up to power outages Wednesday morning.

At approximately 5:40 a.m., 6,067 South Central Power Company customers were without power, including 3,488 in Franklin County, 2,297 in Fairfield County, 277 in Pickaway County, and 5 in Madison County.

Crews said the problems started around 1:30 a.m. at a Pickerington substation, but didn't know the cause. Company officials didn't immediately release a timeline for restoration.

South Central Power Company serves 112,942 customers in central Ohio.
