Families Wait for Holiday Greetings from Overseas Troops

GRANVILLE (Adam Slinger) -- If youre looking for someone to thank this holiday season, look no further than our hometown heroes and their spouses.

He definitely misses [his sons], said Megan Reed, wife of Staff Sergeant Jason Reed.

Jason, also a Columbus firefighter, is currently serving in the U.S. Air Force in Kuwait and just recently recorded a holiday greeting that will be sent to television stations around Ohio.

Id like to wish a Happy Holidays to my wife and kids and everybody at the Columbus Fire Department, Jason says in the video. Go Buckeyes!

ABC6/FOX28 showed Megan the brief video clip of her husband stationed at The Rock.

Hes an amazing father, she said. The couple has two sons, ages two and three.

Thanksgiving was the first holiday Jason had to spend away from his children, Megan told ABC6/FOX28.

You have those things you always do as a family, Megan said as tears filled her eyes, Ask anyone, I'm not a cook. I can bake, but when it comes to cooking, he calls himself Chef Boyar-Reed. It's because he's an amazing cook.

Megan said she and the boys regularly Skype with Jason. She even sets up the camera to face the television so Jason can watch Ohio State University football games, even though, theyre often late at night.

Hell stay up and watch them, she said.

Jason, as of now, is scheduled to return home in March.
