Utica Man Charged with Murder of 2-Year-Old
LICKING COUNTY (Kelsey Mallahan) -- A 24-year-old Utica man was arrested Thursday and charged with the death of a two-year-old girl.
According to Licking County Sheriffs Office officials, Daniel Hall admitted to shaking the child, who is the daughter of his live-in girlfriend Melissa Swetnam, when she began to fuss during a bath. Hall said when the girl lost consciousness, he wrapped her in a towel and took her to her maternal grandparents' home.
The child was taken to Licking Memorial Hospital around 9 p.m.. She was then air lifted to Nationwide Children's Hospital where she later died.
The childs mother was at work when the incident occurred.
Hall was held in the Licking County Justice Center on an arrest warrant with the criminal complaint of murder.
Sheriffs deputies said the investigation is ongoing.
