Sources: Hyde Will Not Face Assault Charges

Updated: Friday, August 2 2013, 11:08 PM EDT
COLUMBUS (Ken Hines) -- Charges will not be filed against OSU football player Carlos Hyde in connection with an alleged assault of a young woman at a Downtown bar, according to police.

OSU head coach Urban Meyer indefinitely suspended Hyde from the team after the senior running back's name surfaced as part of a police investigation into a woman's claim that she was assaulted at Sugar Bar 2 on July 20.

Columbus police announced Tuesday that they officially closed the investigation after the alleged victim declined to pursue charges against a "person of interest" connected to the case.

Hours after announcing the closure of the investigation, police released surveillance footage of the altercation, which appears to show Hyde retaliating after a woman's attempt to hit him.

Buckeye coaches have not commented on the video or Hyde's future with the team.Sources: Hyde Will Not Face Assault Charges
