Comment: I don't text behind the wheel when the vehicle is moving now, so a law will not change my actions. Cell usage is just another distraction while you're behind the wheel. It should be lumped in with eating, drinking a legal beverage, reading the paper or a book, putting on makeup, changing the radio station, yelling at your passengers/kids, or carrying on a conversation. I've personally seen reckless driving caused by all of these distractions. Why should cell phones be singled out. If you can't make your driving the priority when you are behind the wheel, then don't drive. from Columbus, Ohio by Connie

Comment: I don't text while I drive. However, I see so many people who do. Their attention is not on their driving and I'm scared to death of them. from Lancaster, Ohio by Kit
Comment: It is moronic to text while driving! Seriously! It is a shame that people have to be forced to be the least bit responsible!!! from Columbus, Ohio by sherry
Comment: I don't like the law that much. Although it is a good law it will be hard to determine who is texting and who are dialing, and there are too many columbus officers who will be enforceing this law while do the same thing themselves. from Canal Winchester, Ohio by Chuck
Comment: I AM AGAINST UING A CELL PHONE.IF YOU WANT TO TALK PULL OVER AND TALK OR TEXT.DRIVERS CAN'T KEEP THEIR MINDS ON THE ROADS ANYWAY. THEY SHOULD BE FINED. HOW MANY PEOPLE DIE WHILE OTHER DRIVER TALKING OR TEXTING ON THE PHONE? from BLACKLICK, ohio by connie
Comment: While I do think this would be a great law to pass, how would it actually be enforced? I heard you could potentially get pulled over if the cop "thinks" you're texting, but how would he/she prove you were actually texting? Again I think it would be a great law to keep people's attention on driving and not texting. from Columbus , OH by Megan
Comment: I never text while driving. That just seems like a stupid thing to do. I can wait til I get where I'm going. from Westerville, ohio by glenn
Comment: Like others who answered this question today, I don't text, but I do have to talk on the phone while driving a lot. I do Home Base Service work which means I am on the road as a part of my work. I do Counseling with families who have a family member with some sort of mental health issue and they tend to call me with crisis issues when I am on the road. I don't like talking on the phone when I am driving, because it is just not safe, but I have found that I have to sometimes. I try to find a place to pull over, but many times I am not able to and I must take the call, because it could be crucial to the safety of my clients. I just thank God I have never had a reck in my 14 year career. from columbus, Ohio by Lorraine
Comment: I wouldn't stop texting while driving because...I NEVER STARTED THE FOOLISH, INCONSIDERATE AND DANGEROUS PRACTICE IN THE FIRST PLACE from Columbus, OH by J. R.
Comment: I don't now, but I do think it could be
enforced on those who don't care to
stop, if they gave law enforcement a
small bonus for every ticket they gave
and pay for this out of the fine.
Comment: I do not think that texting should be
banned. The radio, GPS, kids and
eating food are all just as distracting
as texting and talking on the phone.
These things will never be banned so
why are we banning texting? from Columbus, Ohio by Brittany
Comment: I don't text while I drive, i barely talk on the phone when I drive. Heck, if they banned talking while driving I wouldn't talk on the phone either. With the way people drive here anyways you'd be a moron to text while driving. There should be absolutely no distractions while driving. That means NO putting on make up while you are driving, no dogs on your laps and no food in your mouth, no phone to your ear and certainly no phone in your hand typing away. There are so many bad drivers here it's ridiculous. So they need to do something about the rest of this as well with Texting being the priority. from Blacklick, OH by Kelly
