Comment: He should not be in the show, but he should not be killed. The trainers know the risk of working with these animals. He should be in a large pool for viewing but no one to be in danger. from , Ohi by Phyllis
Comment: We bring these animals from their home in the wild and we expect them to be trained to do what we say when we say it. This is a "killer" whale. What did everyone expect? from Lewis Center, OH by Sarah
Comment: He has killed more than once.
Why risk another person's
life? I think that if
anything he should just remain
on display but not have close
human contact. from Delaware, OH by Becky
Comment: Why should he be removed. It
was human error that caused
the accident. I do think that
Sea World should use better safety precautions but don't
take it out on Tilikum for
doing what comes natural to
him. from Cardington, OH by Vickie
Comment: No, I dont. That is insane. If it were a dog, it would be put down AFTER THE FIRST TIME! So we will just wait for it to kill again, since that seems to be ok with them. We were going to go to Sea World when we went to Florida in May. We will not go now. from grove City, Ohio by Tina
Comment: This whale has had many problems with aggression, and should not be allowed around people at all. The trainer's ponytail was not the problem. Who's next before they quit putting him around people. from , Ohio by Sarah
Comment: Absolutely they should continure on with the whale. 99% of most incidents involving animals is human error. We all think we know all there is to know and guess what we don't. Actually we could learn alot from animals and the like just by watching them from Delaware, Ohio by Mary
Comment: Tilikum saw her ponytail and thought wow a new toy! It wasn't a malicious attack, just a tragic accident. from marietta, ohio by becca
Comment: I think that this is a good decision. I really dont think the whale is to blame. He was tempted by the pony tail- just as with the person who snuck in the park. from Columbus, Ohio by Heidi
Comment: I don't believe that any WILD ANIMALS should be made to perform in any "Shows". Jack Hannah said that it is important that they remain in captivity for "Educational Purposes"....using them to do "Tricks" and perform in shows...is NOT educational. Monkeys don't wear shorts in their natural habitat. from Whitehall, Ohio by Lori
Comment: Taking a wild animal out of its natural
habitat and training it provides a
danger in itself, and the trainers
should be aware of the consequences
of not following protocol when in the
water with a large animal. from Dublin, Ohio by Brenton
Comment: Yes! Tilikum should remain in the
show if the consulting experts agree.
The orka trainers at Sea World Orlando
are courageous, talented people. They
know that they are doing dangerous
work. We can't need there to be no
accidents. WE can only take every
reasonable precaution against them.
Our whole family was blessed and
inspired by the interaction of the orcas
and trainers last spring when we saw
the "Believe" show. If we all treated
each other with the love and respect
that is shown to those whales, the
world would be a much better place. from Columbus, Ohio by Missy
Comment: The whale did nothing wrong! from , oh by j
Comment: I do not agree that Tilikum should remain a part of the "Show" at Sea World. Sea World should take into conisderation the facts that the whale has killed before. Have some respect for the trainer (and her family) who lost her life. An investigation needs to be completed to determine what "might" of lead up to this "killer" whale grabbing this trainer and killing her. They are called "killer" whales for a reason. Since we can't really talk to the whale I doubt if we will ever know exactly why this tragedy happened. But lets not blame the trainer, maybe she did make a mistake but come on her family just lost someone very dear to them. This could happen to other trainers as well at anytime, lets try and make sure it does not. The show does not have to go on. People will understand why the show is not going on and could just enjoy viewing the whales at this time. Maybe we should go back to seeing the whales in their natural habitat. Hmmm, there's a thought. Unfortunate tragedy. from Prospect, Ohio by Mary
Comment: He should not be in contact with people,
but should not be destroyed. from Columbus, OH by Liz
Comment: Yes! Any time you work with wild animals you take all kinds of risks.I just hope people don't think all whales are bad animals.. from lancaster, ohio by stephanie
Comment: i think they should release him in to the wild from new lexington, ohio by roseanne
Comment: This animal has had 2 previous incidents and should be retired. from Crestline, Ohio by Shawn
Comment: Ya I can sit there and be like
hey there's the whale that killed
that poor lady...boo!! from delaware, ohio by mark
Comment: it,s not the whales fault, it was just doing what it does, It does after all have killer in its name from Cambridge, OH by Clarence
Comment: He should have been made cat food after the 1st time he killed someone. from Coshocton, Ohio by Char
Comment: Is the life of the whale more important, or will it's appearance bring in more money? from Columbus, Ohio by Cathy
Comment: Well... They do execute people and put down dogs that attack right? You be the judge from Columbus, Ohio by Tracy
Comment: After 3 people have been attacked and killed by Tilikum, it's time to release him back to the ocean.
from Columbus, Ohio by Sue
Comment: are they so hard-up for money and entertainment, that sea world would risk the lives of employees just to put on a water show.LISTEN/there has already been 3 deaths/dose that mean anything?
Comment: It doesn't make sense to put any animal down because it acted according to its natural behavior. What doesn't make any sense at all is for humans to completely loose sight of the fact that the animal has been completely removed from its natural habitat and then expected to behave within the "rules" of its confined unnatural habitat...and then be held to the unnatural habitat behavoir when it does something purely natural to its behavioral blueprint it was born with. What this really shows is how pompous human beings can be thinking they can change that animal's blueprint so it can differentiate its behavior based on which habitat it is within at any given moment. This is clearly crediting the animal with entirely to much intelligence it just wasn't made to have. from , OH by William
