Comment: I'm sure there might be times when the answer would be "yes" but for the most part I believe I would prefer to drive. But, I don't go to Cleveland or Cincinnati often. from Dublin, Ohio by Lee
Comment: It amazes me that we want a high
speed rail system that is not direct
between Cincinnati, Columbus and
Cleveland. What happen to the
widening of 71 to three lanes between
these major cites. Unfortunately
Dayton is not a major city at this time.
Who is going to pay the cost when the
rider ship is not able to support the
cost of running it.
Comment: How do you plan to get around those areas once you arrive by rail...you still need your car or will have to pay for car rental or a taxi.
Comment: I WOULD HOPE IT WOULD BE A FASTER TRIP AND AVOIDING THE TRAFFIC WOULD BE NICE TOO. A GREAT WAY TO GO AND SEE THE BENGALS OR REDS PLAY. from COLUMBUS , OHIO by MATTHEW

Comment: WHAT IS THE POLITICIANS THINKING THIS SUMMER YOU RAN A NEWS CLIP THAT SAID THE STUDY SAID THE RAIL WOULD BRING IN 12 MILLION DOLLARS BUT WOULD COST 17 MILLION TO MAINTAIN? YOU WOULD THROW 5 MILLION DOLLARS AWAY A YEAR "DUMB" from columbus, ohio by bob
Comment: Why Rail - why not a tram that could use the I-71 median - it would require no tracks - it would be suspended 20 + feet -above highway - no accidents- snow or inclimate weather no problem -for a # 1 country why can't we be more aggressive and save $$ / from Warsaw, Ohio by Tom
Comment: How about a route from Columbus to Toledo? That's a boring car ride! from Columbus, Ohio by Tom
Comment: Our legislators and planners should study their Ohio history! We had a high speed rail system in Ohio called the Inter-Urban System. It cris-crossed Ohio and linked of the very cities this "new"plan proposes and more.It failed in the 1920's with invention of cheap cars and better highways. Many of the right of ways which were abandoned are now used as"bike trails". The rail system will likely fail again for the same reason the previous ones did, high operating costs, and lack of ridership.Once you reach your destination, you still need a way to get to around.Put the monies into better highways where it will benefit more people! from columbus, Ohio by earla
Comment: I feel this would increase crime in these major cities.Criminal's would use this as easy access to get to these cities, especially young people in gangs who do not drive or own a vehicle. They have an opportunity to invite more criminal minded behavior into other cities. This has been seen in L.A., Chicago and N.Y. with young gang's riding these rail systems going to other destinations to retailiate against other gangs. Let's not make this an easier way to these gangs to kill in our State Of Ohio. from Pickerington, Ohio by Carol
Comment: I absolutely love trains and a metrorail system like Washington DC has would make sense, but this boondoggle is an absolute waste of our money! "High speed" rail is not 40mph and to pay $20 to get to Cleveland slower that I could drive there, and then have to rent a car to go where I need to go? Get real. Somebody is making money off of this and it's sure not the taxpayer. from Columbus, Ohio by David
Comment: IF I did when I got there, how would I get around once in the city?Times are tough.Second,They alloted money for a railway when I'm running over potholes no matter which road I take in Columbus, tearing up MY van. Then I learn that the city isn't even going to repave any roads for a year because of money problems BUT they are making sure we can get to other cities using railway systems and then leaving you stranded for transportation once you get there?!GIVE ME A BREAK!!!!!! from Columbus, Ohio by Deborah
Comment: Why would anyone be sold on the jobs idea behind this personal legacy showpiece. Why doesn't the state put that money into manufacturing jobs that will provide for lifetimes of employment and benefits for people. How many long-term jobs can be created by construction of a passenger railway system versus placing the same amount of money in manufacturing jobs or technology. And to think, we're borrowing the money from China to do this when the tax derived from employment and manufacturing could pay for it without borrowing. from Caldwell, ohio by Robert
Comment: Might be fun to do a girls overnight shopping spree to cincinnati. Depends on how far the train is from hotel and if the hotel has transportation to and from train station. Because if Im going to need my car once i get there, then there is no use in taking the train. So maybe the hotels need to think about that. from Columbus, Ohio by Wendy

Comment: I try very hard to never go to Cleveland or Cincinnati. from Ostrander, OH by Frank
Comment: I sure would that would make life just a little easier, especially if I could find a job the ride to and from would be a relaxing time for me from Delaware, Ohio by Mary
Comment: No, would not use it. It will cause even more traffic congestion in downtown Columbus, because of those driving to and from any train station/depot. Plus with what I've noticed of Ohio, specifically Columbus, it's doubtful any train station/depot will be maintained for a very long time in good condition.....it will get run-down, infrequent maintenance just like everything else from Columbus, Ohio by M
Comment: Unless there's reliable, inexpensive, public transportation to the rail system, why bother? from Lancaster, OH by Dan
Comment: First off, 40 mph is NOT a high speed rail system. Secondly, that money could be better spent on fixing the roads we have and, Third - won't that just put Greyhound out of business so we have more people out of work? from Columbus, OH, OH by Darlene

Comment: Yes. Relaxing ride to Cleveland without having to deal with all the drivers! Soon or later it will be more high speed and transportation around our largest Metro areas is bound to improve! from Columbus, Ohio
Comment: This would be so much better for the environment thsn to have all the cars emitting fumes. As to geting around after you get to your destination, Cleveland has a rapid tramsit---other cities may have public transportation as well which is also good for the environment. from , OH by Paula

Comment: No Way. If we are going to go there for the weekend, someone would have to pick us up when we get there, and not have a car the rest of the time. It wouldnt be worth the inconvienence. Waste of taxpayer money. from , OH by Kyle
