Heat Doesn't Hamper Block Watch Patrols

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Even in the heat, neighbors are fighting back to keep their streets safe.

Harold Smith and William McNash, who both live at Franklin Manor Apartments at 1475 Stimmel Road, say this week’s 90-degree temps aren’t keeping them from patrolling the community to look for suspicious persons and vehicles.

"I watch out for everybody and everything," says McNash, a retired mattress salesman. "I love the block watch."

Residents at the apartment complex, set in south Columbus, created a block watch several years ago.

Members attend monthly meetings and are now gearing up for National Night Out, held on the first Tuesday in August.Heat Doesn't Hamper Block Watch Patrols
