Vandals Strike Cars at Clintonville Apts.
CLINTONVILLE, Ohio -- The thieves who stole global positioning systems and laptops from five vehicles parked at a Clintonville apartment complex are still at-large Wednesday.
The car owners discovered the thefts at the complex located on Riverside Drive in north Columbus early Wednesday. One of them, Jennifer Fowler, called it a “a huge inconvenience.”
“I feel violated,” she said. “I’m frustrated. To me, it’s like a pointless crime. Why?”
A thief smashed in her car’s windows and made off with her laptop and bookbag. Both items contained things Fowler says she can’t replace.
The Columbus Division of Police says thieves also struck a nearby hotel, causing thousands of dollars of damage.
“I work 10-12 hours a day. All that stuff that’s in my backpack, it’s like my life
Another vandalism victim told ABC6/Fox28 News’ Chelby Kosto he’ll have to pay out-of-pocket for the damage done to his car.
“I have to pay with my own money.”
Columbus police say they are investigating, including dusting the burglarized vehicle for fingerprints and taking reports from the robbery victims and any potential witnesses.
