How Hilltop is Fighting Back Against Crime
COLUMBUS -- A West Columbus Community is fighting back against crime.
Concerned neighbors in the Hilltop community met with police and fire officials Tuesday night for a Neighborhood Safety Academy.
The meeting was part of the city's Neighborhood Pride Community Program, which brings a variety of services to an area to help residents clean-up their neighborhoods.
Teresa Grubb attended the meeting because of shooting near her home just last week.
"There's so much crime up here on the Hilltop and we don't want it anymore," Grubb said.
Officials with the city's Department of Public Safety answered residents' questions and spoke specifically about gun and fire safety.
"We think it's critical for the Hilltop and any area because it gives us an opportunity to meet with members of the community in times when there's not an emergency," Assistant Director of Public Safety Seth Walker said.
The city will hold another meeting about gang violence in the coming weeks, Walker said.
