A spokeswoman for U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan says Ohio getting all the Race to the Top money it won in a national competition is dependent on whether state officials significantly change their plans for using the money. That won't be known until the changes are made and evaluated, says press secretary Sandra Abrevaya .
Gov.-elect John Kasich has said Duncan assured him last month that the money was safe even if he scraps Gov. Ted Strickland's school-funding formula as planned. Kasich's spokesman said Friday the incoming governor remains confident the money is secure.
