MORROW COUNTY – A woman left for dead on the side of the road is speaking out for the first time.
Holly McMillen was found off County Road 14 in Morrow County back in late March. She had gone for a walk with her dog after midnight. Next thing she remembers is waking up in the hospital.
“I had no clue,” McMillen said. “I didn’t know why I was there, didn’t know what happened to me.”
She said she was unconscious in the hospital for four days. Now she’s back at home recovering from a broken neck and a shattered cheekbone and eye socket. She’s already had one plastic surgery to reconstruct her face.
So far the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office does not have a clear picture of what happened.
“Who did this to me and why?” she said. “It was scary. It’s still a scary thought.”
McMillen said she has been told by investigators someone attacked her from behind. Police said she was not hit by a car. Robbery also doesn’t appear to be a motive. McMillen said she still has the jewelry she was wearing that night.
Ironically McMillen said she moved to the country to get away from the crime in Columbus. Now she said she’ll have to keep an eye over her shoulder.
“It doesn’t matter where you live,” she said. “(It doesn’t matter) how safe or small of a town you live in is, danger is out there everywhere.”
Anyone with information about this attack is asked to call the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office.
