Steubenville Rape Trial Day 3

Trial Day 3 Update:  Three people are expected to take the stand today.

All three are said to have been witnesses during the alleged crime.

Much of today's testimony likely won't be recorded because it is expected to be of a graphic nature.

All witnesses have the right to ask that the cameras be turned off during their testimony.


Trial Day 2 Update:  Cell phones are at the center of testimony in the Steubenville rape case for Day 2.

A witness was on the stand talking about evidence relating to the phones collected from several teens.

One of those phones belonged to defendant Trent Mays.

judge heard testimony about photos found on Mays cell phone of a nude
girl lying face down, which is being argued as the victim.

defense attorney attempted to argue that's it's unclear whose phone
those photos came from and witnesses have been swayed due to the
notoriety of this case.

Around noon, a cell phone expert from the
BCI was on the stand, and another witness is expected to be on the
stand for several hours this afternoon.

The judge said everyone will hear witnesses until at least 8 p.m.


-- A high profile trial is underway in Steubenville where two high
school football players face charges of raping a 16 year old girl.

West Virginia judge ruled last night that defense attorneys will be
able to call the witness and two of her friends to testify in the case.

fact that the trial is just over the West Virginia border and that's
where those women live had created a bit of a sticky legal situation.

An Ohio judge is hearing the case and called the court to order at 11 a.m. Wednesday.

for Trent Mays and Ma'lik Richmond asked to drop a motion to dismiss
the case stating it is important to have the witnesses from West
Virginia take the stand.

Outside the courtroom, a few protestors from the hacker activist group "Anonymous" have gathered.

That group has attracted national and even international media to Eastern Ohio to cover the trial.
