SOUTHEAST COLUMBUS – A Columbus woman is burned by tragedy twice within a week.
Last week, flames ripped through Pat’s apartment, forcing her to move into another place.
Days later, when she went to take out her salvageable stuff, she discovered thieves had busted into her home stealing televisions, jewelry, a computer, and video games.
“They have to be idiots to go in a smoke damage house,” said Pat, “it’s really heartbreaking.”
Police believe the crooks broke in through an open bedroom window. They have not been caught.
Pat tells us, the burglars also used her condemned apartment to drink and make a mess.
People who lived in eight apartments in the complex have been relocated to other units while renovations related to the fire are done.
