COLUMBUS A man who must already register as a sex offender for targeting a teenage girl more than 10 years ago is now accused of raping a 14 year old this month.
Scottie Obrien, 31, faced a judge Friday for the felony after police say the teenage victim told her relative that Obrien had forced himself on her after picking her up from school last week.
According to the facts read in court, Obrien took the victim to a home on East 17th Avenue where she drank alcohol and smoked marijuana with him.
Officers continued to say that Obrien took her to an upstairs bedroom where "She told him no, not right now. He persisted. He began ripping her clothing and at her belt."
Family members of the victim spoke with ABC6/FOX28 after the hearing but the victim herself did not attend. "She's suffering. As you can imagine, she went through hell," said relative Amanda Hoag.
While Hoag said she would do everything in her power to keep Obrien in jail, his sister said she didnt feel he did anything wrong.
He didn't rape her. You can't rape the willing," said Amber Smith. "He says he didn't do it. I'm his sister. I want to believe that he didn't but people do stupid thing. You can't control that. It happens."
The judge issued Obrien a $750,000 bond and ordered him to stay away from all minor children if hes able to post that bond.
Obrien must register with the Franklin County Sheriffs Office as a sexually oriented offender stemming from an unlawful conduct with a minor offense back in 2000.
Thats when he had sex with a girl younger than 16 years old.
