SUNBURY, Ohio -- Police arrested a man who helped out at a Delaware County rollerskating rink, charging him with stealing money from the facility after propping a door open while helping close for the night. Levi Murphy, 20, of Sunbury, is in the Delaware County jail after the theft from Sunbury Skate Club.
Owner Sharmin McAtee said she opened the rink Saturday to discover a bag of money missing. She then noticed a back door open. McAtee said someone propped a door open at the end of the night on Friday in order to gain access after closing. McAtee said Murphy wasn't an employee, but hung around the rink often and was trusted enough to help clean up.
Court records show Murphy was arrested twice in 2012 for similar charges. He was given treatment in lieu of a prison sentence after a March arrest. It appears from records the court was in the process of rescinding that after an arrest in November. Murphy is charged with breaking and entering and theft in the weekend break-in. He's expected in court Tuesday.
