Retail Expansion Coming to the Easton Area

COLUMBUS -- More shops and restaurants are being planned for the Easton area in an expansion that’s slated to open during 2014.
Easton Gateway will be home to two large format anchor tenants, as well as nearly 100,000 square feet of small and mid-sized retailers, along with new restaurant concepts.
As the latest addition to Easton’s mix of more than 300 shopping, dining, entertainment and hospitality destinations, Easton Gateway will draw from Easton Town Center’s more than 22 million annual visitors and prominence as one of the nation’s most recognizable mixed-use destinations.
Shoppers told ABC 6/FOX 28 they look forward to more opportunities, but some are concerned about heavy traffic in the area.
“We live on the main drag, so we get all the traffic. Hopefully it won’t be more bogged down than it is right now,” said Sandy Baker, who is looking forward to the new venue. “I would like to see an IKEA in there. I think that would bring more people in and celebrate different cultures and styles.”
Another woman said she hopes Easton Gateway will include more clothing options for pets.
“I would like to get more clothes for my puppy, and some for my Rottweiler," Heaven Scales said.
Right now, Easton is keeping mum about what stores might be included in the development, but sources said Whole Foods and a Costco are expected to commit to the space.
More announcements of tenants are expected in the next few months. The project is expected to increase the amount of retail space by approximately 10 percent.
Developers said they will add 3000 parking spaces to the 54 acre site.
