COLUMBUS -- Police say a man wanted for rape and battery could be trying to get out of the country to avoid prosecution.
Officers have warrants in hand for the arrest of Ahmed Kadi, 49, of Columbus. Police say Kadi is wanted for the rape and sexual battery of two young girls in his family, 13 and 15 years of age.
Kadi was last known to be living off Morse Road in north Columbus, police say the same home where the two girls were sexually abused.
An ABC 6/FOX 28 investigation showed Kadi's prior record was relatively clean up until this crime was reported to police: minor traffic violations highlighted his run-ins with the law in Franklin County.
Columbus Police say Kadi is aware of the rape and sexual battery charges and have solid information telling them he is a flight risk and was attempting to leave the country Saturday night.
Police say Kadi abandoned his job, stopped talking to family members and would not return calls from detectives. Police believe he may be getting help from family or friends to leave the country for the Middle East.
If you have any information on Ahmed Kadi, contact Columbus Police.
