COLUMBUS (Andrew Michael/Ken Hines) -- Many central Ohio properties will soon be home to sections of an oil and natural gas pipeline that will stretch all the way to the Gulf of Mexico.
The ATEX Express Pipeline will transfer natural gas liquids produced from fracking in eastern Ohio and Pennsylvania to a destination more than 1200 miles away. The 20 inch pipeline will carry 190,000 barrels of oil per day.
Central Ohio crews are currently clearing trees from private property to prepare for the pipeline's installation. Property owners were compensated for the use of their land.
The pipeline -- which is scheduled to be fully operational by spring, 2014 -- will be present in several central Ohio counties, including Coshocton, Fairfield, Fayette, Guernsey, Licking, Muskingum, and Pickaway.
