COLUMBUS -- Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted's wife was one of the more than 600 Ohioans registered for the Boston Marathon.
Tina Husted says she finished the race around noon. She was part of the Women's elite running group so she started the race early.
But she and some friends were waiting for others to cross the finish line. She was in a van about a block away when the explosion occurred.
"The van shook and I turned to the lady sitting next to me and said that sounded like a bomb," Husted said. "and then all of a sudden we saw smoke and it was chaotic."
Husted had originally planned to stay in Boston Monday night to celebrate the race with her team, but she says after the explosion all she wanted to do was to get home immediately and be with her family.
Husted arrived back in Columbus Monday night.
