NRA to Prohibit Gun Sales at Upcoming Outdoors Show

COLUMBUS -- The NRA promises to put a lot of guns on display when it takes over the reins of a popular outdoor show, but interested buyers will have to go somewhere else to make their purchases.
NRA officials say gun sales will not be permitted at the 2014 Great American Outdoor Show, which will be operated by the powerful gun rights organization.
The prohibition has led to criticism after the NRA announced plans to participate in a boycott of the same event this year in response to the previous organizer's decision to ban the display of specific assault weapons in the wake of the Sandy Hook massacre.
The planned boycott ultimately led to the cancellation of the 2013 show.
In a media release, NRA officials said the organization supports the sale of all legal firearms, and its decision to boycott the 2013 event was based on the exclusion of certain guns from display.
Gun sales are also prohibited at the NRA's annual convention. Attempts to reach the organization for clarification on the reasoning for the ban were not successful.
