HARRISON TOWNSHIP Police are warning residents to be on high alert after a man was spotted driving in residential subdivision with a device that opens garage doors.
Reports from Licking County Sheriffs Office ABC6/FOX28 say the incident happened in Beachwood Trails subdivision. Pataskala police is assisting the sheriff's office with the investigation.
According to those reports, two different people reported seeing a man driving around the subdivision in a white Chrysler Pacifica with his hand out the window holding what appeared to be a garage door.
ABC6/FOX28 spoke to one of the people who called 911.
"I just thought it was strange," said Peter Stephenson. "The driver was going really slow and he had his hand out of the window and it looked like he was trying to see what garage door he could open."
Stephenson says he was able to follow the driver and provide police with a license plate.
Investigators say they were unable to find the matching vehicle but are investigating.
Anyone who sees a suspicious vehicle in their neighborhood is aked to give police a call.
