COLUMBUS -- A 3 year old girl is recovering from a skull fracture after she darted into the street and was hit by a pickup truck.
The child's mother, Jamica Howard, says she was walking her children to her car when her daughter slipped from her grip, ran between two parked cars and into Mithoff Street.
Howard says a pickup came out of nowhere, hit her daughter and knocked the little girl unconscious.
"He kind of kept going cause he didn't notice he hit her and she rolled underneath him and flipped a couple times," said Howard.
The toddler was rushed to Nationwide Children's Hospital where she remains in stable condition.
The pickup driver was ticketed for no valid license.
Neighbors say they've petitioned the city in the past for a stop sign at Mithoff Street and Heyl Avenue.
"The city deemed it not necessary which I don't believe and I don't agree with," said one woman.
Howard says doctors are optimistic that her daughter will be released in about a day.
