Marion Fire Department Keeps Campaign Promises
Updated: Thursday, February 14 2013, 12:21 AM EST
MARION -- Officials are working to hire fire fighters in order to keep a promise to voters who passed a recent levy.
Marion fire officials are taking advantage of the levy, as well as a federal grant, to hire between three and eight new fire fighters, depending on the amount of additional revenue received.
Marion's department currently has 47 of 65 fire fighter slots filled. The department is accepting applications for the open positions through February 19.
Officials also plan to soon open a closed fire house and shorten response times.
