Mansfield Sons of Italy Arson Investigation
Updated: Friday, February 8 2013, 09:41 AM EST
MANSFIELD -- The state's fire marshal is investigating three suspicious fires at the construction site for the new Sons of Italy.
This morning's fire broke out inside the building located at 144. W. Third Street just before 7:30 a.m.
Contractors say they noticed smoldering flames and charred beams when they arrived to work.
According to the Mansfield Fire Department, an unknown individual set fire to the framing. Reports say the unknown suspect got inside by kicking in a piece of plywood on the side of the building.
The first two fires took place back in January, less than 24 hours of each other.
"It's delaying out construction," said Bato Harris, Sons of Italy president. "The most frustrating part is they haven't made any arrests."
All three fires are still under investigation by the state arson investigators.
