Man Abruptly Leaves Flight: Causes Concern

COLUMBUS — A group of passengers was re-screened by TSA officers at Port Columbus, after a man abruptly ran off a Delta flight early this morning.
The additional security screening was done out of an “abundance of caution” and only affected Delta flight #2197 to Atlanta, according to airport spokeswoman Angie Tabor.
The passenger had not informed the crew why he made his own sudden departure, prompting the concern, Tabor said.
Airport police found the man in the terminal, who told them he had left the flight because he got a phone call about a “family emergency,” she said.
No one will be charged, and the man’s name was not released.
Passengers were able to board the flight again and left after more than an hour-and-half delay.
