Machete Cold Case Murder

WHITEHALL -- Police still searching for the killer of an immigrant, six years after he was stabbed to death with a machete.
Luis Orlando Morales, 30, was found murdered July 12, 2007, in the parking lot of his Whitehall apartment complex.
“We don’t know what led up to it,” said Whitehall Detective Steve Brown, “there was alcohol involved”
Morales, from El Salvador, was working in the area and sending money back to his wife and children when he was murdered.
Whitehall Police telling us, a former roommate of Morales’, Luis Lope Pineda, is a person of interest in the case, and has been sought for questioning ever since the murder.
Witnesses at the scene, are not coming forward to share what they know about the crime, “several of them were here illegally, that’s why they don’t want to cooperate with us,” said Brown.
