ZANESVILLE -- The Zanesville Police Department received a 9-1-1 call about a woman being shot in the chest in a home on Lafayette Street.
When they got to the scene, they found a 50-year-old female who had been shot, allegedly by her husband and locked in a bedroom.
She was able to crawl out the bedroom and make her way to a neighbor's house.
The neighbor helped her and they waited for medics.
Zanesville police detectives say their investigation revealed that an argument started inside the home at 1127 Lafayette Street and a 42-year-old man shot his wife.
The suspect fled the home on foot to Eastman Street where he got into a shed of an abandoned home.
The suspect, who was still armed at the time, remained in a stand-off with police.
After two hours of being hold up in the shed, the suspect took off on foot toward I-70.
Special Response Team members surrounded the suspect and they shot him with a beanbag round and taken into custody.
He was taken to the Zanesville City Jail where he remains in custody.
The female victim is still hospitalized at Good Samaritan Hospital in critical but stable condition.
