COLUMBUS -- The Blue Jackets are looking for a new Vice President and
General Manager after Scott Howson was fired, according to a news
release issued Tuesday night.
Howson was hired in June 2007 as
the second General Manager for the Columbus Blue Jackets. During his
tenure, the Blue Jackets compiled a 173-190-59 record and made its lone
appearance in the Stanley Cup Playoffs after a franchise-best 43-31-10
mark in the 2008-2009 season.
"This was a difficult decision but
one that I thought was in the best interest of moving our hockey club
forward," said Davidson of Howson's departure.
Davidson went on to thank Howson for his service to the team.
Howson wasn't immediately available for comment.
Davidson will meet with ABC 6 Wednesday morning to further talk about this decision.
